On 3 July 2024 in the evening, the Deputy Secretary-General will travel to Brazzaville, at the invitation of the Government of the Republic of Congo, to take part in the First International Conference on Afforestation and Reforestation.Ìý The Conference will focus on global approaches to reverse the loss of forest cover and enhance international cooperation on sustainable forest management.

During her visit, the Deputy Secretary-General will meet with senior government officials from Congo and the region, the African Union and other stakeholders.

The Deputy Secretary-General will also visit the UNESCO-recognized Conkouati-Douli National Park, alongside Government officials, bringing attention to the importance of biodiversity conservation, research, community involvement and eco- tourism as catalysts of a green transition towards sustainable development.Ìý
